We discovered this cake at the supermarket near our home. It is a cake that has intrigued us by its name Souff-Ron スフロン , I think it could be short for Soufflé Rond. We found the name funny in French. These cakes are round and the apparence it's true, it has a resemblance to the Soufflé. It is sold in individually bag and comes in 3 flavors: chocolate, strawberry and lemon for a hundreds yen.

The Souff-Ron lemon flavor is quite similar to the meringue lemon pie's taste but with a sponge cake batter instead of the traditional pastry. Indeed, the Souff-Ron is composed of an upper layer lemon chocolate and below there is a layer of whipped cream custard and lemon curd between two sponge cake layers. Lemon curd gives lightness and freshness to the custard. The whole forms a smooth harmony in this fleece sandwich formed by the two layers of sponge cake. This is pretty special as the name for a cake but the cake is good.

It is a light cake and very pleasant on the palate. The name has been well chosen to attract customer's attention. It is hard to forget it with a name like that. It is a delicacy that can please all.
