Theme park opened in 1992, Huis Ten Bosch ハ ウ ス テ ン ボ ス is located on the island Hario near Sasebo, on the island of Kyushu. The park has reproduced an old Dutch village real size and around small theme parks for the whole family...
Indeed, it is composed by a total of 40 attractions, many restaurants, theaters, museums, shops and hotels like the Henn-Na hotel. The attractions are spread in 9 different mini- parks :
- Forest Village : part of the park located in the most southern part where there are a small forest, small villas with ostheopathic center or relaxation centers and the reproduction of the palace Huis Tens Bosch, one of the three official residences of the Dutch Royal Family ;
- Tower city : part lying on the west of the park in its center, the Domtoren tower. The tower measures 105 meters and you can access the observation deck 80 meters high. There are also restaurants , terraces,... ;
- Art Garden : part of the park most interesting at night because that is where there is the greatest illuminations. It is in the center of the park, in a small island surrounded by water. This is also where is the big wheel and the bungee jumping from 20 meters high. These 2 attractions open late into the night as with height, you can see all the lights. Obviously, these attractions become paid at night and day passport is no longer valid ;
- Adventure Park : mini-park in the northernmost of Huis Ten Bosch, but also the one closest to the entrance. It consists of several outdoor attractions including a height journey with many obstacles (climbing walls, crossed a rope or on boxes). There are also a wooden maze called The Maze, a zipline 3, 6 or 9 meters high (3 meters is free with the passport for the first time, the 2 other 6 & 9 meters, you have to pay regardless of the ticket) ;
- Flower Road : it's a bit rural part of the park. It is there that are huge plantations of seasonal flowers, for us it was the rose. The park has reproduced there the Dutch countryside with real-size windmills, fake cows and flowers plants ;
- Attraction Town : it is in the east of the park where lies the well-known attraction on the manga One Piece. There are also many other attractions that are a little science fiction like the Grand Odyssey or the IFX Theater Kirara ;
- Thriller City : mini- park which the theme is horror, it is located on the southeast of Huis Ten Bosch. There are a dozen attractions around it. Personally, it is not a theme that I like very much so we did not do that part ;
- Amsterdam City : it is the reproduction of a Dutch town full size. This part is also interesting at night because it is illuminated. There is a place almost like in Amsterdam, the Passage is a European-style arcade with shops and a market place like in a European village ;
- Harbor Gate : part dominating the Marina Park, it is located on the south of Huis Ten Bosch next to the Forest Villa. Among the attractions, there are a pirate ship, a museum of video games, some attractions around video games and also many other activities on water ;
Well, the entrance is a bit expensive 6500 yen the 1 day passport (including free access to attractions for the first time, if you want to redo an attraction you will pay entrance fee) and you have to pay for almost all the rest of activities in the park (bike, boat, events, ...). There is also less expensive tickets but this is just walking through the park, no attraction is included. From 4 p.m., the ticket with access to the attractions once only worth 4900 yen but you must go around fast enough because many attractions close at 8 p.m. In addition, most of the attractions have fixed schedules. Anyway, we took a day pass and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., we managed to do all the attractions we have planned (once), we paid 6500 yen but it was worth it. Our only regret is that we could not stay at night to see the illuminations because we were exhausted after this rather perilous day ;)
