An exclusivity in Japan, is to find Kit Kat with twenty different tastes. And yet we just stayed around the Kanto region for our research (Tokyo and Matsumoto). It is sure that on the path that leads to the south of Japan, we can still find other tastes.
The 2 tastes below, we have find them by chance in Matsumoto. We were visiting the Castle and we came across these 2 alcohol flavors. Both have a strong alcohol taste . The Sake is accompanied by white chocolate, while the apple liqueur is dark chocolate. Personally, I prefer dark chocolate so it's the Kit Kat with apple liqueur. The strong smell of alcohol makes me think of Mon chéri (the french chocolate). The alcohol in these Kit Kat is as strong as in this small chocolate.
1. Sake
Sold in a box shaped as sake bottle and containing 9 double mini Kit Kat.
2. Apple liquor
The Kit Kat apple liquor are sold in a box of 12 double mini kitkat.
All fragrances below were found in Tokyo in supermarkets or Laox Duty Free Akihabara or Don Quijote Shinjuku or Chocolatory Kit Kat at Tokyo Station.
3. Wasabi
You will find this Kit Kat with wasabi taste at the Laox Duty Free Akihabara. It is sold in packs of 12 around 300 yens. It is a white chocolate Kit Kat in which a slight taste of wasabi is added. We do not feel all the power of wasabi in this chocolate. For me it was a little disappointing.
4. Baking cake
We found this peculiar Kit Kat at the Don Quijote Shinjuku. It is sold in packs of 12 for just over 350 yen. It's quite funny and strange to bake a Kit Kat in the oven. It only takes a few minutes for the Kitkat begins to melt and then caramelize. The room is fragrant with the smell of the cake from the oven. Pierrick liked this kitkat, it's quite normal, it seems similar to apple crumble, the taste and the smell :)
All Kit Kat Special were purchased at the Chocolatory Kit Kat. It is at level -1 (minus 1) of Daimaru at the Central Station Tokyo.
5. Chili & Passion fruit
The Kit Kat with chili and passion fruit is made of a dark chocolate coating. This chocolate is combined very well with the spicy of chili and tangy of passion fruit.
6. Orange Cocktail Black
The Kit Kat Orange cocktail and dark chocolate tastes like the small cakes Pims orange. The combination of orange and dark chocolate is always a taste that will please everyone.
7. Raspberry
A little hard to find but sold in many supermarkets in Tokyo the Kitkat raspberry flavor is white chocolate. The alliance raspberry and white chocolate is very pleasant in mouth, it is not too sweet and raspberry gives a little sour taste quite refreshing.
8. Strawberry Cheese Cake
A flavor that we also found in Laox Duty Free, is sold either in a box of 12or in a box at Mount Fuji image with 9 double mini kitkat (slightly more expensive). The scent of strawberry is quite strong in this chocolate but the taste of cheesecake is almost nonexistent. This Kit Kat is far too sweet for my taste.
9. Matcha tea
Taste you can find everywhere in Japan, the Kit Kat Matcha is very popular. In fact, the Japanese made thousands of desserts , chocolates, ice ... with Matcha. No wonder this Kit Kat is sold everywhere. The taste of the Matcha is very strong but the wedding between white chocolate and green tea is very well balanced.
10. Rhum raisin
The Kit Kat rum raisin is sold at the Laox Duty Free Abihabara It is in a box of 12 mini duo kitkat. The taste of rum is well developed in this Kit Kat without attacking the mouth. Rum raisin and white chocolate mixture is not too sweet, contrary to what some may believe.
11. Strawberry Maple
A Special that we found in the Chocolatory Kit Kat Tokyo, the Kit Kat with strawberry and maple syrup. This is one of my favorite Kit Kat even if it is made of white chocolate. The taste of the strawberry is just perfectly proportioned to rise up the sweet of maple syrup and white chocolate does not taste too much. It's just a perfect alliance.
12. Green tea & Kinako
The kinako is actually the toasted soybean powder. It is used in Japanese dessert especially with mochi. This Kit Kat special is also a product of the Chocolatory Kit Kat Tokyo. The taste of green tea is quite present but the kinako is almost undetectable. It is a Kit Kat that I found quite bland.
13. Pistache & Raspberry
This Kit Kat Special edition is part of the collection of the Chocolatory Kit Kat Tokyo. This is a taste which is also in the special occasion box, i.e. the collection boxes that Kit Kat Chocolatory has created to be offered. The taste of pistachio does not appear much but that may be because it is associated with white chocolate and not present inside the wafer. By cons , raspberry raiser the platitude of white chocolate with pistachio. My impression is that pistachio is only there to give the green color that blends well with raspberry pink.
14. Butter
Last Kit Kat the series Special, the Kit Kat butter should be in my opinion the worst idea within the 24 chocolate we found. When I tasted a piece of this kitkat, I felt only the taste of margarine. It's sickening late for me. By cons, Pierrick felt nothing at all, just the taste of white chocolate. That may be because Britons are used to butter, they can't feel the taste anymore LOL :p
The Kit Kat below are all part of a private collection of chocolatory Kit Kat Tokyo : I love Fruit and I love tea . They are not sold individually but in boxes of 10 for each theme : fruit or tea. As you can see on the photo, they are mini Kit Kat and in a box of 10 there are 2 mini Kit Kat of each flavor (Not 2 double mini Kit Kat but 2 times 1 stick of mini Kit Kat) each individually packaged. These boxes of 10 are very expensive 2480 yens.
15. Yuzu
Yuzu is a citrus fruit native from East Asia. This is a hybrid of wild tangerine and lemon of Ichang. It looks like a small grapefruit and it has a lemony taste without being too acidic. Put yuzu in the white chocolate Kit Kat is a very clever idea. The yuzu brings a fresh note.
16. Passion fruit
Here, the passion fruit is associated with white chocolate . The tangy of passion fruit balance well with the sweetness of white chocolate.
17. Blackcurrant
It is the same for blackcurrant, but this is a red fruit, so that makes this Kit Kat is a little sweeter.
18. Strawberry
The strawberry is associated with White Chocolate in this kitkat. A marriage that is used so often that it becomes bland in this Kit kat, especially with the release of the Kit Kat with strawberry and maple syrup.
19. Black Tea
Black tea has a strong taste, so it is very clever to have associated it with dark chocolate kitkat. It enhances the taste of chocolate with a touch of finesse that gives the taste of tea.
20. Oolong Tea
Oolong is a Chinese tea with incomplete oxidation, which means it is between black tea and green tea. It has woody notes of chestnut and hazelnut, which marries well with dark chocolate Kit Kat.
21. Genmaicha Tea
Genmaicha is a Japanese green tea mixed with roasted rice grains. This is what gives this Kit Kat this particular green color. The green tea is strong in this Kit Kat (not as strong as the Matcha) with a rear that of roasted bean. It is associated with white chocolate which gives it a sweet taste.
22. Hojicha Tea
Hojicha is a Japanese roasted green tea. The alliance between the tea and white chocolate is quite well found. Itgives this Kit Kat this green color that turns brown. It tastess good smoked tea in this kitkat and the white chocolate gives just enough sweet to not feel the bitterness of tea.
23. Gyokuro Tea
Gyokuro is aJapanese green tea with high quality and highly esteemed in Japan. It is rich in theanine and low in tannins, which gives it a sweet taste. Allies with kitkat white chocolate, it provides a delicate and refined taste.
24. Molesson
The only Kit Kat to be sold individually and packaged individually in its own design box like great chocolate, the Kit Kat Molesson is a milk chocolate kitkat (a size of about 10 cm) with a mixture of chocolate milk with dried fruit. It is as good as the real french chocolate Mendiant with milk chocolate but in addition you have a Kit Kat with. It is even better :)
That was the long series of 24 Kit Kat we found, their taste and where they are sold. Now all is up to you. You know where to find i ... Who knows in our road trip we can find other ... You will certainly see it in the next video ;)
