It has become an essential passage in Tokyo a it is known all over the world, Maid Cafe . In fact, it is more like a restaurant where the service is taken to the extreme. The staff is trained to make you feel that you are privileged, like a VIP. Everywhere in Japan we can find this type of Cafe, but it's in Akihabara that the choice is really large. There is a Maid Cafe almost every 200 meters :)

In this kind of Cafe, they are just young women who do the service. But contrary to what some may believe, the Mais Cafe is very popular within Japanese girls, foreign couples ... The customers are various (there are not only men and the settlement of these cafes is very demanding regarding customers' behavior towards Maids). It is not possible to take pictures of the place or staff. You can obviously not touch the waitresses. And in most Maid Café, you have to pay an entry fee between 500 and 1000 yens per person in addition to food and drinks you will command (which makes these place a little more selective cafes).

We decided to try the @Home Cafe, a maid cafe located almost in the center of Akihabara. The entrance fee costs 600 yens per person. The @Home Cafehad 4 floors and each floor has a dining room with different waitresses and a small stage. The place is rather modern, decorated in pink and white, very simple and chic. The waitresses are dressed in maid and every guests coming, they shout Okaeri Ojou -sama! for men and Okaeri Hime -sama! for women. This means Welcome home, Master or Welcome home, Princess . All this to give you the impression that you have a butler and your household staff.

The menu offers different very typical Japanese dishes in Maid Cafe, such as omelet stuffed with rice or curry rice. The peculiarity is in the presentation of dishes, some representing animals such as rabbits or teddy bear for the Kawaii impression. For the omele , the Maid draws in live with ketchup what you want on the plate. There is also a largemenu for hot and cold drinks with different fun demonstrations and many desserts as cute as each other . Maid entertainment such picture, game or mini show cost from 500 yen depending on the service. But there are set menus (food , drinks or dessert) that include one photo with the maid you want or a game of 5 minutes. You can stay an hour at the cafe.

In the end, it is expensive to come in a Maid Cafe. This is why it is a fairly selective place. But that's a small price to pay for the client to feel truly king !
