Japonica Lodge or How to sleep in a tent indoor in Tokyo

It had been years since I had not do camping. When I see the word camping, I think back to the tent that my father took ages to set up, small bugs and floods in rainy days LOL! But I still wanted to retry the experiment here in Tokyo without any inconvenience I have just mentioned, since it is a hostel with pre- installed tens inside a building Hihi!

The Japanica Lodge is near the Asakusa subway station, on the banks of the Sumida River. In reality, it's a store that sells equipment for camping, trekking, .... At the same time, they use their showroom and equipment (tents, mattresses and sleeping bags) into a dormitory. They also have an upstairs lodge for campers as relaxation area. The camping experience seemed like a fun idea at first : why not try to camp without the inconvenience of being outside? There are toilets for men and women and a bathroom quite well maintained. Places are pretty well equipped. There are 10 individual tents (although we managed to put both of us into my tent), torches and heated duvets are available for free and a thermos with tea. There are also small lockers to put your stuff (they are not very big, a backpack can't easily get inside.

We could have spent a quite night there, except that we had a roommate who snoredmonstrously loudly next to us. Both of us in a tent, there was not much a lot of space indeed. Although the tents are made for one person, they are quite small finally (for people a little claustrophobic, it is not recommended). Compared to the capsule hotel, tents offer less space and even fewer services. The proximity to your neighbors is more obvious than in a capsule hotel and we suffered of all the disturbances even though I was equipped with earplugs, mask ... That 's why we quickly leaved around 5am.

This is not really an accommodation that we recommend. It's not expensive but neither comfort nor the service are there. But after all, it was an experience we wanted to retry and seeif it suits us. And the answer is definitely No :)
