After Monju-do Defune festival in Amanohashidate, there was no train to Kyoto. So we took a hotel night in a Ryokan, a traditional Japanese hotel. The Ryokan that we have chosen is in the neighboring town of Amanohashidate (3.5 km), it is 10 minutes by train. In addition, this Ryokan has the distinction of having more than 400 years of history. You can see ancient paintings and interior decoration of the Ryokan is very traditional. The name of traditional Japanese hotel where we stayed is Seikiro Ryokan.

This Ryokan is all in all wood. It offers rooms with Japanese style. The main room consists of tatami (woven straw) and includes futons, a small table for tea and some shelves. There is also a study area and a veranda so you can take tea and admire the garden. Some rooms have a private bathroom but in general the toilet and bathroom are shared. The rooms are typical Japanese style with some minimalism in decoration, wood engravings as well as paintings and poems from the Edo period (1603-1867) on the sliding doors. It is possible for customers of the Ryokan to visit the 3rd floor where there are exhibit paintings, novels and poems of famous artists such as Ujo Noguchi, Kan Kikuchi, Eiji Yoshikawa and Hekigoto Kawahigashi.

If you have the opportunity to go to Miyazu, this Ryokan is a very nice place to rest and enjoy the history of the place.
