Very popular among kids and also adults , the Ramune is part of the essential refreshments in the Japanese festivals.

Imported from Britain and sold in Japan since 1876, Ramune (Lemonade in English) is a carbonated water with different flavored, found in the country often in the summer festivals. Its bottle has a peculiar shape and this drink is available in different flavors corresponding to different color, often appeals children but also adults across Japan. To open the bottle of Ramune, there is a system included in the bottle stopper. You have to press hard on a sort of push-button to dislodge the small ball which obstructs the neck of the bottle .

In reality, it has a pretty chemical taste, a bit like Mister Freeze but Ramune is a carbonated-water. It's quite refreshing when it's hot and in the middle of the crowd of matsuri. By cons, after you will be thirsty again. Sweet drinks do not quench really... It's just for fun and the pleasure of sweet drink ;p
