Every year at Christmas time, the different districts of Tokyo sparkle with lights and creativity! Various major sponsors struggle to create the biggest and most impressive lighting and musical decors in order to attract the public attention. The competition is open ! In our top 3, we show you the illuminations that we went to see and that we were most impressed.
In third position, from November 14th to December 25th 2016, you will find the illuminations of Artelligent in Roppongi Hills and its Christmas market with its small cabanons where are sold some Germanic dishes: sausages, sauerkraut, ... but also hot wine ! The illuminations are all around the Mori tower. The trees aredecorated with lights, the shopping center and the surroundings are also decorated with garlands, Christmas trees, luminous snowman, ... The main illuminations, nearly 1,200,000 LED (from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.) on the theme from "Snow and Blue" to "Candles an Red", is located on Keyakizaka, the street which runs down a gentle slope on the Azabu side of the Hills. This gives a magnificent point of view of the Tokyo Tower. The atmosphere is very friendly and intimate.
Second, from November 15th to December 25th 2016 (from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.), we chose the Midtown Christmas illuminations near the Roppongi station. You will find inside the Tokyo Midtown shopping center a small Christmas market with wine tasting and the shops of the complex. But the show takes place outside, all around the complex. There is first of all a very nice Welcome Christmas tree, then the champagne colored big trees illuminated open the way to the "Starlight Garden". Here, more than 180000 LEDs dancing and twirling to offer you a magic show !
And in the first place, from November 17, 2016 to February 14, 2017, we find the illuminations of Caretta at Shiodome. A colorful and musical show is presented every 20 minutes from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. There are more than 250,000 LEDs and you can even go in the scene to take your picture. The Christmas Market is located between the Caretta Mall and the City Center Shopping Center, all along the Shimbashi-Shiodome underpass. In addition, you can see the mini show in the courtyard of the City Center which traces the history of trains in light (from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. every 15 minutes).
Small bonus: the illuminations of Baccarat in the Yebisu Garden Palace in Ebisu from 5 November 2016 to 9 January2017. The Christmas market is not very big but warm and Baccarat illuminates the place with elegance and refinement. The square is flooded with fairy lights, luminated bells, chandeliers and a hugely beautifully decorated Christmas tree.
