Art Aquarium Osaka 8000 goldfishes アートアクアリウム

For 10 years, Hidetomo Kimura shows us the world of the Art Aquarium. Indeed, the artist presents an exhibition of this art form every year at Dojima River Forum in Osaka. This underwater art exhibition gathered more than 8,000 specimens goldfish and Japanese carp, Nishikigoi. Each aquarium is a work of art thanks to the technical performance of staged (light, music and video) as well as design in kaleidoscope of aquariums.

This exhibition of 104 Art Aquarium is supported by the University of Arts Group in Osaka. Admission is 1,000 yen for adults. This is a very popular exhibition within the Japanese since the goldfish is popular among Japanese people since the Edo period (1603-1868). You will see around twenty different species of Japanese carp in various aquarium shapes (round, rectangular, vases, lanterns, ...). You are in the dark throughout the course and only aquariums are lit, giving a very special atmosphere. Aquariums are highlighted and at the same time, fish are living so they are moving, then it is even more impressive. We even saw a large aquarium with small Nemo and Dory :) It's pretty funny! It is an exhibition that appeals to both adults, so the technical effects are well thought out, and children who find this magic, all the colors, the fish in movements, lights, ... At the end of the exposure, there is a small bar where you can buy food or drink. It's pretty impressive what is proposed at this counter. It is also kind of Art!

If you're in Osaka, look on the internet the dates of the exhibition. It's worth a look! Otherwise the artist of Aquarium Art also exposes in Tokyo at Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.
